This collection is built on a truth that has stayed with me: God is both. He is the Shepherd who stays close and the Lion who reigns, the Lamb who gave himself and the King who wins. Strength and tenderness were never opposites in him.

It began with Psalm 23. The words “thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me” stayed with me long after I had finished reading, and they led to the first piece, the Thy Rod and Staff necklace. Soft curves reflect the shepherd’s rod and the cross, and it rests close to your heart.

The Lion and the Lamb ring is the other side. The lion speaks of kingship, victory, and authority. The lamb speaks of humility, mercy, and a love willing to sacrifice. Worn together, they hold the whole picture: the courage to stand and the gentleness to rest.

This piece is inspired by the tall glass buildings in the city of London. This modern architectural design known as curtain wall can be noticed in almost every city, making everywhere feel lighter. These modern designs are created to provide gorgeous views, natural daylight, resists air and water infiltration, absorbs sway induced by wind and seismic forces acting on the building, withstand wind loads, and support its own weight.

Kataku is in part inspired by the structure of Japanese homes — hence its name.

 Japanese architecture is a work of art with an emphasis on man’s relationship with nature — an essence captured in the solid lines around the ring.
